History and Mission

History of Habitat for Humanity International

Habitat for Humanity is an international, non-profit, Christian-based organization whose mission is to provide low-income families with decent, affordable housing in which they can raise their families.

HFHI was founded in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller. HFHI operates in over 1500 US locations and in 300 locations worldwide. This includes all 50 states in the U.S.A.

Mission Statement - Macomb County Habitat for Humanity

Macomb County Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian based, housing ministry that provides low-income, working families the opportunity to purchase safe, decent, affordable housing in which to raise their families. Habitat was founded in the belief that every man, woman, and child should have a decent, affordable place to live, where they may dwell in dignity and safety.

Macomb County Milestones

 
 Affiliate founded.
 First house was built in Mt. Clemens.
 First House built in Clinton Township.
 

 First house built in Roseville.

 First Women Build home completed.

 First house built in Warren.

 Vision 2020 begins in Macomb County, Five homes built in Colchester neighborhood.

 Macomb County ReStore is opened.

 Macomb County partnered with Oakland and Wayne Counties for the SuperBuild, which was a lead-up event to Super Bowl XL, 40 wall sets were constructed and sent to three Texas affiliates to be built permanently for hurricane evacuees.

 First rehab house completed in Roseville.

 50th Macomb County Habitat house built.

 First house built in Sterling Heights.

 First LEED Certified house built in Sterling Heights, which has received a LEED Certified Platinum rating.

 A total of 61 homes built in Macomb County.

 A total of 8 homes rehabbed since 2009.

 Macomb County Habitat has provided 82 adults and 158 children with a home since inception.
