Applying to become a home owner...

Applying for a Habitat home will require time and energy on your part, and there may even be moments when you wonder if it's worth it. We think the answer is YES!  We think the thrill and satisfaction of owning your own home is worth a great deal of time and energy. In fact, applying to become a partner family with Macomb Habitat may be one of the best time investments you'll ever make. If accepted, you'll have the opportunity to help yourself and your family build a better life in a home you helped build.

Wouldn't that be wonderful?

HOW TO APPLY TO BECOME A HABITAT HOMEOWNER

Step 1
Submit a completed Homeownership Eligibility Questionnaire

Step 2
Attend a Family Orientation Meeting to learn about Habitat and obtain application materials.

Orientation Meetings are held twice a year - Fall & Spring.

Call 586 263-1540 or email us for information & dates of upcoming Orientation Meetings.

Step 3
Submit a completed application, including copies of all required documents.

Step 4
Attend a Financial Review Meeting to see if you meet Habitat's financial qualifications.

Step 5
Schedule a "home visit" with the Family Selection Committee where an interview and a

housing condition survey will be conducted. In some cases the Family Selection Committee

may request additional documents, interviews, or visits with the applicant family.

Step 6
Wait for the Macomb Habitat Board of Directors to make its decision. The decision is based on

each family's application materials and the recommendations of the Selection Committee.
