Habitat for Humanity - Macomb

Macomb County Habitat For Humanity | Faith In Action

How to Help Get Your Congregation Involved.

Build a house:

  • Work with the Faith Relations office to put together a plan to raise funds and provide volunteer labor to build a Habitat home. Gift In Kind donations and professional services from your faith group can be a great boost as well for new home builds or renovating houses.

Help Us Identify Qualified Homeowners:

  • We are seeking good homeowner partners all over our county. We can provide our latest guidelines to help your congregation search for qualified homeowner families and move them through the application process. You could then support them through the construction process, assist with the Dedication Ceremony for their home, and even help them move in. This is a great way to build your congregation and your community.

Organize a Fundraiser for Macomb Habitat:

  • Plan an activity or event that draws a crowd, or hold a special offering in support of Habitat’s ministry locally. We can help with ideas, promotional materials, even a presentation at your church. Add Macomb Habitat to your regular budget for missions support.

Provide Lunches:

  • Organize a group of volunteers to provide on-site meals to hungry volunteers.

Attend a Faith Relations Meeting:

  • Join us for a Faith Relations Team Meeting, usually held on Habitat Night, the 4th Tuesday of each month.

Pray:

  • Pray for Habitat for Humanity of Macomb County. Pray specifically for the lives and communities touched by Habitat. Pray for Habitat homeowner families by name during services.

Promote Macomb Habitat:

  • Plan a time in which your church’s outdoor sign lists your support. Use bulletin or newsletter items that we can provide in your publications.

Plan a ReStore Donation Day:

  • Our ReStore retail outlet sells donated building supplies, furniture, hardware, tools, major appliances (less than 10 years old) and many other items to help support our efforts. Contact us about scheduling a Donation Day around your service times or another occasion in which you are gathering a crowd. Our ReStore Donation Truck can be there to receive donated items as we promote our partnership with you.

Customize:

  • Customize a Habitat project to fit your church and help meet your congregation’s ministry goals. Projects can be designed for students, singles, small groups or the entire church. Contact the Faith Relations office to learn more! Call 586-263-1540, ext. 126.

Faith Relations Team:

Our Faith Relations Team meetings bring together members of the Macomb County faith community to discuss various aspects of Habitat for Humanity’s ministry while gaining valuable information and inspiration. These meetings are open to any individual interested in learning how Habitat for Humanity can be used to meet their congregation’s ministry goals. Topics range from construction and family partner updates to how to reach out and partner with other congregations.

The Faith Relations Committee meets in the Macomb Habitat Offices starting at 6 pm on the 4th Tuesday of each month, during Habitat Night. The office is at 130 N. Groesbeck, Mount Clemens, 48043 (at Hubbard, north of Cass Ave.) Please RSVP by calling the Faith Relations Department at 586-263-1540, ext 126.
